Samsung donates 18,000 units of blood


Nearly 18,000 blood units were donated successfully through the “Blood for Vietnamese 2018” programme, according to officials at the closing ceremony of the programme yesterday in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Nearly 18,000 blood units were donated successfully through the “Blood for Vietnamese 2018” programme, according to officials at the closing ceremony of the programme yesterday in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

The programme has been jointly held by Samsung Viet Nam, the National Institute of Hematology - Blood Transfusion, the Blood Transfusion Hospital – Hematology, the Blood transfusion hematology hospital in HCM City and the Steering Board for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilisation of Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces for nine years.

Shim Won Hwan, president of Samsung Viet Nam, stated: “The annual blood donation activity of the company is a method to raise Samsung employees’ awareness of sharing the social burden and thereby improving the sense of caring and protecting the health of each and every individual. In the future, Samsung Viet Nam will continue trying to conduct more activities to contribute to people and community in Viet Nam”.

These contributions helped Samsung become the leading enterprise in the north in terms of blood received among more than 300 companies that jointly organise blood donation programmes with Institute of National Institute of Hematology - Blood Transfusion.

At the ceremony, Samsung granted Supporting Funds worth more than VND1.1 billion (US$44,000): Bac Ninh Red Cross, Thai Nguyen Red Cross and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfurion. — VNS
