Sacombank will support the HCM City Hospital of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association’s programme, ‘ATM: Donate Blood to Save Lives’ by organising two blood donation drives on September 24 and October 1.

They will help replenish the blood bank’s stocks, which are running low.

The bank’s employees in HCM City donated on Friday and will again donate next time, and Sacombank expects to collect 400 units totally.

The ATM: Donate Blood to Save Lives programme, carried out in response to a call for blood donation by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilisation, solicits donations from young entrepreneurs and employees of member businesses.

It hopes to sign up 1,500 volunteers.

Phan Dinh Tue, Sacombank’s deputy CEO, said: “At Sacombank, besides business activities, we also focus on social activities. The blood donation programme is one of the community-oriented activities that Sacombank has organised nation-wide for many years regularly, with a large number of employees and customers participating and giving thousands of units of blood each year to help mitigate the shortage of blood at medical facilities.

“However, this year the programme has faced some obstacles due to the pandemic. Therefore, we are ready to join the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association’s initiative.

“I think this activity has a very special meaning, is extremely necessary and timely, especially during the current pandemic situation." — VNS
