Golden Trust Company Ltd has named pop star My Tam as the ambassador for its bubble tea brand Gong Cha in Viet Nam.
My Tam, born in 1981 in Da Nang, is a diva whose long and storied career has been free of scandal. For years she has been among the singers with the largest fan base in Viet Nam.
She has won many top Vietnamese and international awards like the 2014 Top Asia Corporate Ball in Malaysia and the famous “Lan Song Xanh” prize for singer of the year for three consecutive years.
In January 2018 Tam became the first Vietnamese singer having her album listed to the top 10 Billboard World Album.
Earlier this year Tam directed a film for the first time. “Chi tro ly cua anh” was a big hit that became the first Vietnamese movie to be screened twice by the country’s biggest cinema chain, CGV.
Golden Trust said it chose My Tam as the brand ambassador because it wants to inspire youths.
Nguyen Hoai Phuong, general director of Golden Trust, said: “My Tam has for a long time been a famous singer in Viet Nam and an idol for many generations of people. We found that we share many of the same philosophies, so we decide to co-operate.”
The company said that it would soon join its new ambassador in a campaign to propagate the use of products like straw, cup and bags made from environment-friendly materials.
Gong Cha is a brand founded in Taiwan in 2006. It was franchised in Viet Nam in 2014 to Golden Trust Company Ltd.
It has become one of the most famous brands in the country with 45 stores across it. – VNS
