The Vietnamese online education firm Egroup on Tuesday signed an agreement to become a shareholder in South Korean firm Minischool.
Under the agreement, Egroup will be the authorised partner of Minischool in some Southeast Asian and European markets.
This is the first overseas investment Egroup has made, marking a new step of development for the Vietnamese business.
Egroup Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Thuy said Minischool was a limitless online education platform that could create a global education network.
Minischool could be considered the “Uber” of the education sector, he said at the signing ceremony, adding Minischool was very good at technology and Egroup would assist the South Korean firm to sell its products and services.
According to Minischool founder Uk Neo Jung, the company would expand to the Vietnamese market and then Europe.
Minischool was founded in 2016 and immediately lured attention from well-known investment funds in the Republic of Korea such as Kakao Venture and Altos for its advantages and technologies in English training.
The platform allows teachers and learners to integrate in the form of animated characters. Based on the interaction, Minischool can analyse the learner’s data to deliver the appropriate training programme.
Egroup on May 15 also signed a partnership agreement with Visang, another educational service provider in South Korea. The two firms plan to introduce the English-training programme Englisheye to Viet Nam, which is being used by 700 schools and training centres in South Korea. — VNS
