Seven new bridges opened to traffic in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Dong Thap last week, improving transportation facilities for people in six communes in Hong Ngu District.

They were built at a cost of VND15 billion (nearly US$660,000) by real-estate developer Novaland Group.

Locals, especially children, used to face great difficulties without the bridges, particularly during the flood season.

Bui Xuan Huy, general director of Novaland, said: “The bridges will upgrade local transportation, improving local people’s daily lives. Investing in a bridge system has an important role in developing the economy in rural areas.”

Novaland has also built a cultural house in Hoa An Commune, Cao Lanh City in the same province at a cost of VND700 million. — VNS
