HMD Global Company has launched its first 5G smart phone, the Nokia 8.3 5G, and said it would be sold this summer for 599-649 euros (US$648-703).

It said it would support both standalone and non-standalone 5G combinations that operators are rolling out around the globe.

It also comes with a powerful PureView quad camera with ZEISS optics.

HMD also introduced two other smartphones, Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3.

The 5.3 comes with a quad camera, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 mobile platform and signature two-day battery life. The AI-powered cameras help capture images even in dim light, thanks to night mode.

The Nokia 1.3 has a brand-new Android 10 (Go edition) OS.

The Nokia 5.3 will retail at 189 euros ($204) and the 1.3 at 99 euros ($107), and they will be sold globally from next month.

A new feature phone, Nokia 5310, was also launched at a price of 39 euros ($42).

Reimagining the original Nokia 5310 Xpress Music, it has an MP3 player and FM radio with dual front-facing speakers.

It will be sold in Viet Nam from March 24 at VND989,000 in two colours, black/red and white/red.

HMD also announced plans to enter a new service category with the launch of its HMD Connect global data roaming service, enabling people around the world to benefit from a data SIM when travelling.

It keeps users connected, allowing them to pay only for what they need. By signing up via an app, they will have a SIM card delivered home.

HMD Connect will launch in BETA through HMDConnect.com.

The HMD Connect global data roaming service currently works in over 120 countries across the globe, and, together with partner Greenwave Systems and local operators, HMD Global is working to expand the coverage to even more networks and countries. — VNS
