Nestle Viet Nam in collaboration with consumers have organised reforestation trips to Cuc Phuong National Park and Dong Nai Culture-Nature Reserve, and trips to visit coffee farms adopting sustainable farming practices under NESCAFE Plan in Buon Ma Thuot.

Through the trips, they have planted more than 15,120 trees in protective forests, contributing to environmental protection, and donated one million seedlings to farmers.

The trips are among a series of activities under the “An Tet Xanh – Don Loc Lanh” (Celebrating Green New Year, Welcoming Good Fortune) that Nestle Vietnam launched earlier this year, with activities under the programme, such as reforestation to tackle climate change and sustainable coffee farming practices, receiving great support from consumers.

As one of the pioneering enterprises persuing sustainable development, Nestle Vietnam wants to join hands with consumers to contribute to environmental protection activities, the company said.

Under its “Trao dieu lanh - Don loc xanh” (Giving Blessings, Welcoming Green Buds) programme last year, Nestle donated 8,000 plants for protective forests, 500,000 high-quality coffee seedlings for farmers, and 2,500 gifts to environmental sanitation workers.

Binu Jacob, managing director of Nestle Vietnam, said through the activities under the “An Tet Xanh – Don Loc Lanh” programme, especially reforestation and sustainable coffee farming, Nestle Vietnam wishes to contribute to raising awareness and sparking interest in protecting the environment among consumers.

Do Thi Thanh Huyen, founder and director of Gaia Nature Conservation Centre, appreciated Nestle’s environmental protection activities, saying that this not only helps increase green space but also inspires the community to protect the environment.

At the Programme on Benchmarking and Announcing Sustainable Companies in Viet Nam by the Viet Nam Business Council for Sustainable Development last year, Nestle Vietnam was named the most sustainable business in Viet Nam in the manufacturing sector.

It is for a second year in a row that the company is in the top spot in this prestigious ranking and for a fourth year in the Top 3 Most Sustainable Companies, demonstrating the goal towards sustainable development that Nestle is pursuing. — VNS
