The professional capacity and teaching quality of physical education teachers in Vietnamese primary schools nationwide will be enhanced by implementing guidelines inspired by Nike’s 6C’s of Coaching.

This is the main content of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Vietnam National Institute of Educational Sciences, Nike Vietnam and Danson Corporation on November 8.

The 6C’s of Coaching module for physical education at the elementary level was compiled and adjusted to Viet Nam’s context by experts from the Vietnam National Institute of Education Sciences with support from Nike Vietnam and Danson Corporation.

It helps teachers build an active, creative and student-centric physical education class. The programme is also in accordance with the rollout of the 2018 General Education programme of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The three-year project expects to integrate the 6C’s of Coaching principles in all physical education classes in primary schools nationwide, thereby improving kids’ health, behavioral development, learning outcomes and their long-term development in their later life.

The Active with Sports programme is part of Made to Play, Nike’s commitment to getting kids moving through play and sport so that they can lead healthier, happier and more successful lives.

The programme successfully initiated a pilot module using the 6C’s of Coaching physical education teaching method; implemented training courses and integrated application into physical education in primary schools in seven provinces and cities nationwide, benefiting over 2,000 schools, nearly 4,000 physical education teachers and nearly 2 million kids.

The programme sets out a vision to expand the reach of the 6C’s method nationwide from 2023 to 2025 by monitoring, evaluating and issuing guidelines to recommend all provinces to integrate the 6C’s into physical education at schools. — VNS
