Snack company Mondelez Kinh Do on Friday announced that it would join hands with the Department of Culture and Sport of HCM City and the People's Committee of District 8 to organise the Tet (Lunar New Year) flower market from February 1 to February 11 at Binh Dong wharf in District 8.

The "Tren Ben Duoi Thuyen" festival is part of a series of cultural events to welcome the national traditional New Year in HCM City under the People's Committee's direction and support to help gardeners and local shop owners, especially after a difficult and unstable year.

"Mondelez Kinh Do understands that small shop owners, gardeners and flower sellers have been tremendously impacted in this unprecedented challenging time this year," said Simon Crowther, marketing associate director of Mondelez Kinh Do Vietnam.

The unique flower market with the participation of more than 500 flower boats will be transformed into a must-see destination during this Tet holiday.

Over the years, the flower floating market’s busy atmosphere at Binh Dong wharf has created the characteristic spring in HCM City. The boats full of Tet flowerpots from the Mekong Delta have long been familiar to people around the Binh Dong wharf area every Tet.

At this special flower market, visitors can find a wide variety of flowers to decorate the New Year, such as apricot blossoms, chrysanthemum, marigolds and orchids.

To liven up the Tet atmosphere, the organiser has prepared many well-designed check-in places and live music performances, including the spectacular traditional music on the boat to be performed daily.

In addition, Mondelez Kinh Do and the HCM City Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Goods will give 5,000 gift packages to workers who are unable to return to their hometown for Tet, and has joined hands with the HCM City Women Charity’s Association to offer 500 gift packages to the elderly and disadvantaged children. — VNS
