LOTTE Mart brings Tet cheer to 800 underprivileged people


With its motto of always bestowing special importance on community activities, between January 28 and February 6 LOTTE Mart in collaboration with local authorities and its partner P & G Vietnam visited and gave Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts totally worth VND200 million (US$8,807) to 800 disadvantaged families in places where the Korean retailer has stores.

With its motto of always bestowing special importance on community activities, between January 28 and February 6 LOTTE Mart in collaboration with local authorities and its partner P & G Vietnam visited and gave Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts totally worth VND200 million (US$8,807) to 800 disadvantaged families in places where the Korean retailer has stores.

On January 28 LOTTE Mart Binh Duong in collaboration with the People's Committee of Lai Thieu Ward, HCM Communist Youth Unions of the Rehabilitation Hospital of Binh Duong and Traditional Medicine Hospital of Binh Duong organised a programme to give away gifts for the New Year and provide free health checks and medicines to disadvantaged families in the province.

Giving gifts for the Lunar New Year is an annual activity for LOTTE Mart. As part of it, at localities that have LOTTE Mart stores, each store will co-operate with the People’s Committee of the local commune or ward to visit and give gifts to underprivileged households.

The gifts include essential products such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt and others. The gifts are to encourage the recipients on the occasion of the Lunar New Year and meant to offer them spiritual support.

As part of its efforts to be a Samaritan in local communities, last December LOTTE Mart donated VNĐ200 million to Operation Smile for funding surgeries for children with lip deformities.

The surgeries will be performed at the HCM City Medical University Hospital next month.

As part of its commitment to go hand in hand with the community, LOTTE Mart established the "Choice L Foundation Fund,” which under took a series of meaningful activities in 2017, including donation of relief materials to people affected by storms, support for farmers who encountered difficulties in selling their products despite falling prices, sponsorship of “Operation Smile” surgeries and more.

LOTTE Mart will continue to carry out many more meaningful and practical programmes to bring cheer to local communities.

As part of activities to welcome the Mau Tuat Lunar New Year, LOTTE Mart has also been running many attractive promotions at its stores, including a lucky draw programme with the prize being a car and another programme to sell certain items at a price of VND19,000.

It also gifts calligraphy works to customers and provides them with a chance to experience making Korean kimchi and write their New Year wishes on a “God of wealth” tree to wish for good fortune and happiness in 2018.

Lotte Mart opened its first store in Viet Nam in HCM City’s District 7 in 2008. The retailer now has a total of 13 outlets in several big cities and provinces like Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Thuan, Can Tho, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Ha Noi.
