The giant online shopping platform, Lazada.vn, on Wednesday announced that it had reduced commissions to merchants by more than 50 per cent, starting on October 5.

Lazada Vietnam said that the reduction was one of four strategic goals that would be carried out to support their merchants.

The other programmes include strengthening management; optimizing the marketplace; and making management friendlier.

To strengthen management, the platform said they would begin actively interacting with merchants through advanced technologies and would give customers more information about merchants.

In terms of optimizing the marketplace, the company will organise more promotions and products with a good sales history will be given equal advertising time.

The company is also providing merchants more mobile apps so they can self-manage and advertise their products. This will help merchants check orders and revenue anywhere at any time.

Shop decoration applications, meanwhile, will help merchants create attractive displays for their products.

Many flash sales and free shipping will also be offered to customers so that merchants can sell more products, according to Lazada.

Lazada on Wednesday also announced that this year’s “shopping revolution” will last from November 11 to December 12, with many flash sales and promotions.

In another development, the company said that it had moved to a new location on the 19th floor in Sai Gon Centre – Tower 2 in District 1 in HCM City.

Lazada, which is currently the biggest online shopping platform in Southeast Asia, operates in Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

The company recently connected with 100,000 merchants in the region and has co-operated with 2,500 brands to support 560 million customers in the region.

The company now has about 115 million products in many categories, including electronics, fashion, toys, sports and cosmetics. — VNS
