An annual charity event, the Lawrence S.Ting Walk, will be organised in Phu My Hung new city centre in District 7 in HCMCity on January 18, attracting around 15,000 runners.

Beginning at 6:30am, the eventwill be organised on Tan Trao Street in Phu My Hung City Centre, and broadcast live on HTV.
The walk is an annual event jointly organised by Phu My Hung Development Corporation and the authorities of districts 7, 8, Binh Chanh and Nha Be to raise funds for needy people and encourage the sporting spirit among the community.
Starting in 2006, this year is the 15th edition of the event. With the theme of “Buoc Chan Chia Se” (The Sharing Steps), the event aims to offer inspiration abou tsports and share the spirit among people living in HCM City and neighbouring provinces.
This year's event will feature a three-km run for young people and sport enthusiasts apart from music performances and lion dances.
Participants who donate VND120,000 or more will be given T-shirts, water and lucky draw tickets with attractive prizes such as TVs, refrigerators, cookers and microwave ovens.
Since its debut in 2006, the Lawrence S. Ting charity walk has attracted over 197,000 participants and raised some VND32 billion from participating organizations, businesses and individuals.
This year, the walk has raised nearly VND3.2 billion from companies and participants.All of the money has been given to funds for the poor in districts.
The walk began in 2006 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Phu My Hung Development Corporation under the name of “Phu My Hung Marathon”.
In 2016, the name was changed to memorialise Lawrence S. Ting, the late president of the Central Trading and Development Group, who contributed to the development of South Sai Gon.
It is now a traditional event of the Phu My Hung Development Corporation. — VNS
