Six South Korean businesses operating in Viet Nam were honoured on Wednesday with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards for their contributions to socio-economic development in Viet Nam.
The sixth annual CSR Awards ceremony was co-organised by the Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korean embassy in Viet Nam, and Viet Nam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Awards were given to two categories of businesses - small-and-medium-sized enterprises, and big corporations.
Firms that won awards include Changshin Vietnam, Doosan Vina, Everpia, CJ Vietnam, Nonghyup Bank and Sungbu Vina, all of who have contributed towards scholarships for Vietnamese students, building houses for the poor and sponsoring animal breeding programmes for farmers.
“Korean businesses in Viet Nam play an important role not only in economical development but also in the general development of the society,” Nguyen Van Hieu, deputy minister of planning and investment said at the event.
Kim Jeahong, chairman of KOTRA, said the awards show Korean enterprises’ acknowledgement of their social responsibility through practical and meaningful community activities, including improving the working environment, saving energy and contributing to social security. — VNS
