Klook, an Asian travel and experiences platform, recently reported impressive growth in both the domestic and outbound travel sectors.

The company’s persistent efforts during the COVID pandemic resulted in phenomenal growth in the domestic sector, and the company already surpassed pre-COVID levels by 150 per cent in 2022, it said.

In Viet Nam, Klook now offers thousands of experiences and activities in the three categories of play, stay, and move across major destinations.

The company affirmed seeing more local operators go digital and come onboard with them.

In 2023, Klook will continue to attract onboard more merchants and attractions to expand their domestic offerings.

“We aim to empower local tourism through diversifying destination offerings to off-the-beaten-path and less visited areas, such as tours from Ha Noi to Moc Chau, Ha Giang, Ba Be, and Quang Binh cave exploration tours,” it added.

From the last quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of this year, Klook saw a 30 per cent growth rate, indicating that more Vietnamese are flocking to the Klook app to make bookings for their outbound trips. Also from the same period, the company recorded that outbound gross sales increased by 34.53 per cent, and outbound gross bookings by 18.69 per cent.

The first quarter saw a 319 per cent year-on-year increase in outbound gross revenue compared to the same period last year.

In another development, Klook appointed Nguyen Huy Hoang as its new general manager for Viet Nam.

Hoang joins Klook with over 20 years of professional working experience ranging from market research, business consultancy, business development, and e-commerce platform management. Over the last two years, Hoang has been working as an SVP to develop FMCG categories and the LazMall platform for Lazada Vietnam and then chief business officer for OnPoint, a leading e-commerce enabler in SEA. With a strong commercial background, Hoang is expected to help scale Klook Vietnam efficiently across the sectors of domestic, inbound and outbound. — VNS
