HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Lufthansa Technik AG and Jetstar Pacific have signed a three-year comprehensive engine maintenance agreement, the airline said in a statement on Friday.
Under the terms of the contract, the HCM City-based low-cost carrier will have the V2500 engines of its Airbus A320 family fleet overhauled by Lufthansa Technik.
Robin Johansson, director, sales, Southeast Asia and Australia/Pacific Lufthansa Technik, said, "We are pleased to welcome Jetstar Pacific as a new customer for engine overhauls. The fact that Jetstar Pacific selected Lufthansa Technik underlines once more that our engine MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) product delivers the best ratio between quality, performance and price."
The co-operation with Lufthansa Technik, a trusted partner of the airline, would bring further support for Jetstar Pacific's fleet development.
The Lufthansa Technik Group, with more than 30 subsidiaries and associates and more than 26,000 employees worldwide, is one of the leading providers of technical services for the aviation industry.
Jetstar Pacific has grown from five aircraft in 2013 to 12 aircraft today, and flies on 32 domestic and international routes.
Recently, the two major shareholders of the airline, Vietnam Airlines and the Qantas Group, committed to the long-term development and success of Jetstar Pacific. The two shareholders expect Jetstar Pacific to have a fleet of up to 30 aircraft by 2020.
The airline is also expected to handle 18 million passengers by the end of this year, during its operation as a joint-venture low-cost airline. — VNS
