Suminoe Textile Co from Japan will develop a plant to produce electric heating appliances in Viet Nam for export to Japan.
The Osaka-based firm established a local subsidiary, Suminoe Textile Vietnam Co, in Dong Van III Industrial Zone in the northern province of Ha Nam with capital of US$1.9 million, Kyodo News reported.
The new company will rent a factory to produce heating appliances such as electric carpets and blankets with a production capacity 30 per cent higher than its plant in China, the online newspaper cited the Suminoe spokesman as saying.
Suminoe now has 14 bases in seven countries, including the US, India and Indonesia. Electric heating appliances are one of the company's key products.
Earlier this month, Japanese electronics giant Sharp also announced plans to construct a multiple production plant in Viet Nam. —
