HA NOI – The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales as ICAEW unveiled its representative office in Viet Nam yesterday.
Having a representative office in Viet Nam further confirms the ICAEW's commitment to extending its contribution to strongly growing countries such as Viet Nam, and also reflects the organisation's positive view of the nation's increasingly important role in the Southeast Asian economy.
The years ahead are going to be very exciting for Viet Nam as the country joins the Trans – Pacific Partnership (TPP) and gets ready to sign the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union, which is salient proof of Viet Nam's commitment to being a more integral part of the global economy.
Opportunities, however, always come with challenges, especially given the need to comply with new finance and accounting standards, Mark Billington, director Southeast Asia of ICAEW said.
The ICAEW's move in having a representative office in Viet Nam is an act in the right place and at the right time, which increases representatives for international organisations in Viet Nam, adding to the ongoing human resource development efforts, especially in high quality manpower, assisting the Ministry of Finance and the Vietnamese government's cause in promoting the accounting and auditing profession more speedily and effectively, and meeting the need for economic penetration and market development in Viet Nam, Dang Thai Hung, a Ministry of Finance representative said.
The ICAEW is a leading professional membership organisation, which promotes, develops and supports over 144,000 chartered accountants worldwide, and also the first and only professional organisation in Viet Nam offering certified chartered accountancy training. – VNS
