THUA THIEN–HUE — The Hue Brewery Company's Huda Gold, won the Superior Taste Award from the Brussels-based International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) in Belgium in April.
Making this announcement, Carlsberg Viet Nam Trading Company, a subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group in Denmark, said the award made Huda Gold the only internationally-recognised Hue brew for taste and quality this year.
Superior Taste Award is an annual contest organised by iTQi, the leading organisation dedicated to testing and promoting superior tasting food and beverage from around the world.
The judges granted a Superior Taste Award of two Golden Stars for Huda Gold among hundreds of applications from manufacturers of food and beverages from 120 countries.
"We are delighted that our Huda brand has been recognised for its superior taste and quality by international experts," said Tayfun Uner, CEO, Carlsberg Viet Nam Trading Company.
"This prestigious award is yet another strong testament to Huda's unique home-brewed flavour, our high quality malt and hobs imported from Europe, and over 160 years of brewing expertise of the Carlsberg Group. All these elements have placed our Huda brand, a quality beer, amongst the leading food and beverage products in the world." Uner added.
Last year, Huda Gold and Huda beer won a silver medal at the 2013 World Beer Championships in Chicago, USA.
The wholly foreign-owned company, under the management of Denmark's Carlsberg Group, plans to increase its production capacity from 240 million litres of beer to 360 million litres by July 2014, General Director of Hue Brewery Company, Nguyen Mau Chi told Bizhub.
The company plans to contribute VND1.6 trillion (US$76.2 million) to the State budget this year.
The Hue-based company, which was launched in the 1990s with a modest capacity to produce three million litres of beer annually, exports its products to England, France, Spain, Australia, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia. — VNS
