Two hospitals owned by the Hoàn Mỹ Medical Group have been recognised for their innovative patient-centric projects at the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International Quality Improvement Awards 2023.

The ACHSI Quality Improvement Awards evaluate and recognize outstanding and innovative quality improvement initiatives that have been implemented in healthcare organisations around the world. There are three categories in the awards, of which two were presented to the Hoàn Mỹ Medical Group hospitals this year.

Hoàn Mỹ Sài Gòn Hospital was recognised in the Clinical Excellence and Patient Safety category for its implementation of a comprehensive automation system and good laboratory practice.

Hoàn Mỹ Thủ Đức Hospital won the Non-Clinical Service Delivery Award for its “Effective Change Management Programme on Infectious Waste and Segregation”. The project, launched in 2022, reduced infectious medical waste by 20 per cent per bed per day and cut the cost of treating the waste by 58 per cent, while reinforcing safety standards.

Louise Cuskelly, executive director of ACHSI, said: “With pioneering, innovative, and effective initiatives, two projects within the Hoàn Mỹ Medical Group have demonstrated highly efficient processes and a commitment to continuous improvement demonstrated in both clinical and non-clinical service delivery.

“We appreciate the patient-centred focus and positive impact of the projects in enhancing the quality of safe and effective healthcare services."

Dr Dilshaad Ali Bin Abas Ali, group CEO of Hoàn Mỹ Medical Group, said: “Hoàn Mỹ is unwavering in our dedication to continuous improvement and innovation, and being honoured with ACHSI Quality Improvement Awards is a testament to our commitment to ensuring our healthcare service quality meets international standards.”

The group plans to “extend these successful operational models throughout the entire system to continuously improve our clinical excellence and comprehensive patient care,” he added. — VNS
