Its construction began 20 years ago following a decision by the city to develop its southern region.
There were many challenges in the beginning since it was built in an area without roads, power or water, but it has now become one of the city's leading IZs.
It houses 163 projects with a total investment of US$553 million.
A fifth of them are in the mechanical and telecom industries with the other leading sectors being construction, logistic, pharmaceuticals, plastics and paper.
The companies employ 8,140 workers and pay over VND7 trillion in taxes.— VNS
