Heineken Vietnam, Tiki, URC Vietnam and URC Vietnam are among the best companies to work for in Asia, according to HR Asia Magazine, one of Asia’s leading publications for human resource (HR) professionals.

Heineken, which was recognised for the second consecutive year by the magazine, was praised for its highly effective programmes that continue to empower its employees.

This year, awardees were selected from a pool of 300 nominees across 20 industries, based on proprietary research that assessed the company's working environment, HR practices, employee engagement and job satisfaction.

In 2019, thousands of employees across Viet Nam responded to the HR Asia's "Best Companies to Work for in Asia" survey.

“We believe the better trained our people are, the bigger the impact they will have on our company and the country,” said Leo Evers, managing director of Heineken Vietnam.

Evers added that his company had incorporated a sustainability strategy into its core business, with a key focus on caring for people, the planet and prosperity.

Because people are at the heart of Heineken Vietnam’s business, the company has invested immensely in developing staff, at all levels, he said.

Employees at the company benefit from its people development programme that enhances their capacity and skillsets, as well as innovative programs like short-term assignments (STA) in which employees experience a new work field, a different working environment, an unfamiliar culture, and different team members.

In 2018, the company invested VND31 billion (US$1.3 million) in developing its people. These investments are a testament to Heineken Vietnam’s commitment to ensure a highly skilled workforce.

URC Vietnam was also recognised as one of the best companies to work for in Viet Nam for a second year in a row.

In the surveys, URC Vietnam earned high scores for its talent recruitment policies, healthy corporate culture and career development opportunities extended to employees both within URC Vietnam and across the Group.

With its 15 years of experience in Viet Nam, URC Vietnam has a robust management and organisational structure with more than 1,600 employees in various functions manned by competent and well-trained people. Strong HR systems have built a culture of engagement and created a “one team” spirit at the company, which uses a competencies-based HR model based on URC Group’s global approach.

“This recognition once again proves the success of our company’s strong HR strategy,” said Laurent Levan, president and CEO of URC Vietnam.

Unilever Vietnam

Unilever now has more than 1,600 employees nationwide, and is indirectly creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers through third parties, suppliers and distributors.

In house investment is key to Unilever’s success, with its power in its people. They believe that training and developing staff, while focusing on attracting young talent to the company is a solid foundation to build for the future. Leadership is spotted, nurtured and developed through a series of intensive course to ensure only the best for the company.

“At Unilever, Brand and People are the two most valuable assets,” said Trinh Mai Phuong, vice president of the company's HR Department. “For nearly 25 years in Viet Nam, we have been working hard to create a friendly, sociable, professional and open working environment, with the international standard human resource training and development programmes and attractive remuneration.”

Tiki

The Vietnamese e-commerce company Tiki was also named as one of the best companies to work for in Asia by HR Asia.

Having been in the domestic market for nine years, Tiki, besides its technology platform, infrastructure and operations system, has always focused on building human resources and a corporate culture.

Tiki has offices in HCM City and Ha Noi with over 3,000 employees across the country. They include talented Vietnamese employees as well as global veterans who have previously worked for top global companies like Amazon (US), Coupang (Korea), Macmillion (India) and others. — VNS
