HA NOI (Biz Hub) – The FLC Group won three prizes at the 2016 Asian Golf Awards held in Thailand last week, for its breakthrough in developing a chain of golf courses-cum-resorts.

While FLC won the best new golf course award, Trịnh Văn Quyết, chairman of the group's management board, was honoured as the most powerful person in the Asia-Pacific golf industry and also won the golf vision award.

These awards by the Asia Pacific Golf Group (APGG), a communication group specialising in golf, are as prestigious in the golf industry as the Oscars is in cinema. Every year, APGG recognises and gives 48 awards for excellent golf courses and to individuals involved in the industry through online votes in the region.

Quyet has quickly established his reputation in Việt Nam's golf industry and the region, the APGG said on its website. The developer is expected to introduce at least 15 golf courses and resorts in Việt Nam over the next two years.

The FLC Group owns two golf courses - FLC Sam Son Golf Links and FLC Quy Nhơn Golf Links, designed by the renowned firm Nicklaus Design. By the end of 2016, the FLC Haa Long Golf Course will be open to the public. Designed by Schmidt-Curley Design Inc, it has a view of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO world heritage site. This golf course is expected to be a promising candidate for the 2017 awards.

Two other Vietnamese golf courses, Ba Na Hill Golf Club and Legend Hill Golf Resort, also won awards.
