Insurance company Hanwha Life Vietnam today offcially launched the "Protect the Heroes” programme, which aims to protect health professionals and doctors who are on the front lines taking care of local residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The programme honours Vietnamese health professionals and doctors and expresses corporate responsibility to the community in the fight against Covid-19.
Under the programme, Hanwha Life Vietnam will donate 8,000 protective suits, worth nearly VND1 billion, to health care professionals and doctors.
The suits, which include body suits, protective glasses, gloves, masks and shoes, were contributed by Hanwha Life Vietnam’s financial advisors and employees nationwide.
As many as 4,000 protective suits were provided directly to the Department of Health in HCM City today, and the remaining will be donated to the Department of Health in Hanoi on April 17.
Im Dong Jun, CEO cum chairman of the member council at Hanwha Life Vietnam, said that frontline healthcare professionals are putting their own health at risk for the community in the pandemic situation because they directly contact and give treatment to patients to save lives every day.
More than anyone else, they are the ones who need to be protected and saved with appropriate medical equipment and clothing.
“Following the Vietnamese Government, and putting corporate responsibility at the heart of our company, Hanwha Life Vietnam is donating 8,000 protective suites with the desire to join hands with the country to overcome this tough challenge,” he said.
Along with the "Protect The Heroes” programme, on March 6 Hanwha Life Vietnam and the HCM City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients donated 3,257 health insurance cards to the poor in HCM City and Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan and Ben Tre provinces with a total budget of VND974 million.
Additionally, Hanwha Life Vietnam volunteers have responded to the call of the Red Cross in Ward 2, Tan Binh District in HCM City on "Blood Donation Day" to provide more than 175 blood units and over 200 gifts to help people in the Covid-19 fight.
Although the epidemic has become complicated, Hanwha Life Vietnam's business results remain stable with positive changes in the first quarter of 2020.
In the first quarter, the compay’s new premium increased by 21 per cent over the same period last year.
Despite obtaining positive results, Hanwha Life Vietnam believes the life insurance market will face certain difficulties in the near future. Therefore, the company continues to maintain strict control of operations, and fully complies with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health in disease prevention for its business system and employees.
At the same time, Hanwha Life Vietnam has accelerated digital transformation in its operation, including policy issuance, online premium collection channels, and online claims to reduce virus risk to customers. Training and recruiting activities are also being deployed on online channels. — VNS
