An organic tea production plant using the latest Japanese technology opened its doors in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on Thursday.

Covering 4,500sq.m in Tan Lap Commune, Bac Quang District, the plant was built at a total cost of more than VND30 billion (US$1.32 million) by Hoang Long Tea Ltd Co.

The plant can process 40 billion tonnes of fresh tea per day, which helps consume material tea in the commune and other regions.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Dung noted that tea is seen as a spearhead plant in the province’s agricultural economic development plan.

The province will ask agencies and districts to zone off tea processing areas to develop safe tea products in line with organic standards, he said.

For his part, Director of Hoang Long Tea Co Nguyen Duc Lai noted that the company always pays attention to deploying technology in tea production to bring clean and top-quality products to consumers. — VNS
