Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading super app, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Food Safety Management Authority of HCM City (FSMA) to raise awareness and improve food safety standards in the city, thus continuing its Grab for Good commitment in Viet Nam.
During the first year, both parties will launch a series of initiatives.
Grab and FSMA will develop an incident management process overseeing problems relevant to food hygiene and safety.
FSMA and Grab (via GrabKitchen) will complete and inform merchants of the process, as well as monitor and ensure that the process is carried out in accordance with regulations.
The two will organise training to help merchants gain access to the practices of food safety. The practical content of the classes will provide them with useful knowledge and help them improve service quality.
Conducting promotional activities is another initiative to raise awareness about the processes of food production, delivery, and consumption of people as well as merchants and restaurants.
Pham Khanh Phong Lan, head of FSMA, said: “We highly appreciate the role of platforms such as Grab in cooperating and connecting business units and consumers to communicate and solve problems related to food safety. By signing this MOU, we expect to gradually foster consumer trust in safe production and business models with the effective companionship of technological solutions of the new era, such as the Grab and GrabKitchen platform."
“The deployment of this MOU is a solid premise that can create a foundation for more comprehensive and thorough strategies between FSMA and Grab in the future. In the long run, we hope to continue expanding cooperations with the authorities and contribute to improving safety standards of the food delivery industry as well as the health of consumers,” said Nguyen Thai Hai Van, managing director of Grab Vietnam. — VNS
