GoViet, the Vietnamese subsidiary of Indonesian multi-service platform Gojek, said on Friday that it plans to unite its app and brand under the parent brand and become Gojek Vietnam.

Phung Tuan Duc, GoViet co-founder and former chief operating officer, has been named general manager to lead the company’s next phase of growth.

“Becoming Gojek in Viet Nam will mean a better experience for all of our users today and for years to come and I’m incredibly proud and excited to lead the team on this journey,” he said.

Gojek is a pioneer of the integrated super app model, and has over two million registered drivers and 500,000 merchants in over 200 cities across five Southeast Asian countries.

The app, which is underpinned by a new international technology platform, would enable it to fulfil Vietnamese users’ changing needs and priorities by innovating and introducing new features and products more quickly and seamlessly, the company said.

Vietnamese users will also be able to access Gojek services in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

GET, the company’s brand in Thailand, will also become Gojek.

Since its launch in Viet Nam in August 2018, GoViet has seen exponential growth, and now offers motorbike ride-hailing (GoBike), logistics (GoSend) and food delivery (GoFood).

It serves millions of customers in Ha Noi and HCM City, and has more than 150,000 driver-partners and 80,000 merchants.

In its first year the company reached 100 million bookings, and then doubled the number to 200 million six months later.

More details on when the new Gojek app will be available for download on Google Play and App Store will be announced soon. — VNS
