More than 1,000 golfers will participate in the FLC Golf Championship 2018, scheduled to take place at the FLC Sam Son Golf Links.
The championship will begin on January 1, 2018, in the central province of Thanh Hoa.
Speaking at a press meeting held in Thanh Hoa on Saturday, the organising board said the annual FLC Golf Championship 2018 had been one of Viet Nam’s biggest golf tournaments in terms of the number of golfers and award value.
The three-day tournament this year will not limit the number of winners for the hole-in-one prize, meaning that a golfer can win hole-in-one in different golf holes. The award is for both professional and amateur golfers.
“The award value this year will continue to increase, with a total value of VND100 billion (US$4.4 million), including a cup, a condotel at FLC Sam Son Golf Link, automobiles, a golf membership and vouchers at all of FLC’s resort complexes nationwide,” said Trinh Van Quyet, FLC Group’s chairman of the management board.
Quyet said that by developing golf courses and Institute for Golf, FLC expected to contribute to the country’s golf tourism industry to catch up with the common trend across the world.
FLC has four golf courses in Quy Nhon, Sam Son and Ha Long provinces. In the time to come, it would build others in Quang Binh, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Hai Phong.
Golfer Tran Phuong from HCM City won the hole-in-one award at the 16th hole, with a value of VND7 billion at the FLC Golf Championship 2017.
After six years, the annual FLC Golf Championship has become one of the most prestigious tournaments. FLC Sam Son Golf Links is located in the FLC Sam Son Complex, with a total investment of VND12 trillion on an area of 200ha.
The golf course was chosen for many other important competitions, such as the Faros Golf Tournament, AMD Golf Challenge 2017 and Danko Golf Championship 2017.
Golfers at the tournament will enjoy free accomodation at the complex. — VNS
