Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) and Germany’s KfW Development Bank met on Wednesday to discuss a loan arrangement for Trị An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project.

Both parties have agreed that the loan arrangement would be signed in November, making Trị An Hydropower Plant Expansion the first project of EVN to be granted non-government-guaranteed loans from KfW.

Apart from KfW loans, EVN is also applying for German Official Development Assistance (ODA) to finance its projects, including those on renewable energy, and calling for KfW's support in getting these loans.

KfW Director for East Asia - Southeast Asia Frank Bohnet said EVN is one of KfW's most important partners in Việt Nam. KfW had committed to cooperate closely with EVN in projects of high priority in the short term, especially ODA-financed and non-government-guaranteed ones.
