E-wallet SmartPay has received a Level 1 payment card industry data security standards certification, the highest level.

The certificate is issued when more than 200 requirements are met with regard to companies that accept, process, store, or transmit credit card information maintaining a secure environment.

They were established by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, an industry consortium of American Express, Discover, JCB International, Mastercard, and Visa formed in 2016.

Level 1 certification is usually obtained by banks and international card issuers or providers with over six million transactions per year.

After a rigorous testing and evaluation process, CrossBow Labs granted the latest version of the certification to SmartPay in five categories, network/e-commerce, payment gateway/switch, e-wallet, merchant services, and loyalty programmes.

Marek Eugene Forysiak, chairman of SmartNet, which owns SmartPay, said: “Achieving … Level 1 certification marks an important milestone in SmartPay's commitment to providing safe and professional payment services.” — VNS
