Digiworld Joint Stock Company and HMD Global, makers of Nokia phones, on Wednesday signed an agreement to expand their partnership and further develop the Nokia brand in the country.

According to Doan Hong Viet, CEO of Digiworld, his company will now distribute all Nokia products in Viet Nam and not just smart phones.

Nokia used to be one of the most popular phones in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia, and remains a familiar brand to all Vietnamese, and this was what had inspired his company to expand the co-operation.

The brand returned to Viet Nam more than a year ago after a long hiatus.

A report by GfK says Nokia is the leader in the Vietnamese phone market with a market share of 25 per cent in the first seven months of the year.

Tan Kyler, managing director of HMD Vietnam, told Viet Nam News that in the last one year, his company has brought many new phones to the market. — VNS
