HA NOI (Biz Hub) — China took the lead in exporting completely built units (CBUs) to Viet Nam in the first quarter of this year, according to the Viet Nam General Department of Custom.
In its statistics report on the country's import and export, the Viet Nam General Department of Custom noted that as many as 8,600 CBUs that originated from China were shipped to Viet Nam during the period, marking 289 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.
China is followed by South Korea (with 7,740 units and 48 per cent increase), Thailand (6,850 units and 165 per cent rise), India (5,700 units and 164 per cent increase), and Japan (2,290 units and 120 per cent rise).
It also stated that the country imported 13,200 cars with nine seats and above and 12,930 trucks during the time; 89.3 per cent and 93.6 per cent higher than the first four months of last year.
The country also imported 8,890 cars of various make, with year-on-year growth of 93.6 per cent.
In April alone, the import of CBUs was slightly lower than the previous month but still at a high level with more than 9,900 units worth US$294 million. — VNS
