HA TINH (Biz Hub) – Carlsberg Viet Nam last week kicked off a charity campaign to donate VND10 billion (US$444,000) to fishermen impacted by the recent mass fish deaths in Viet Nam's central region.

The drive would help all fishermen in seven provinces of the central region, which include Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri, in addition to Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam, as well as help locals with the cleaning up of the beaches.

The incidents of mass fish deaths along Viet Nam's central coastal provinces are making fishermen's lives more difficult. Realising how tough the situation is, Carlsberg Viet Nam is taking action immediately and working closely with the local authorities of these provinces to provide rice, noodles and cooking oil to help the locals overcome this situation. Ha Tinh is the first destination of this charity donation campaign and Carlsberg Viet Nam will continue to move to other provinces to support the locals there.

"Each of the 2,800 Carlsberg Viet Nam employees has made a voluntary contribution, donating one day's salary towards this effort and will be working on beaches to do the clean-up together with the locals," Tayfun Uner, CEO of Carlsberg Viet Nam said.

It is said that this meaningful action originated from the heartfelt love and sharing of Carlsberg Viet Nam, especially Huda – a popular brand with a presence of more than 25 years - in the heartland, which is considered the pride of central people. Through this charity campaign, Carlsberg Viet Nam in general and Huda in particular, continuously show its commitment to the lives, people and the common development of the central region here.

Carlsberg was one of the first Danish multinational companies to enter Viet Nam and made its first investment in 1993. For the first 20 years, Carlsberg managed its Vietnamese operations through Carlsberg Indochina. In 2012, a fully dedicated Carlsberg Viet Nam organisation was established with three offices and breweries in the North, Central and South of Viet Nam. Carlsberg Viet Nam's brands include Carlsberg, Tuborg, Huda Gold, and Huda, in addition to Huda Cool and Halida. – VNS
