HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) reported a sales increase of 59 per cent, 12,562 more units were sold this August than in August of last year.
This is the seventeenth consecutive month in which automobile sales exceeded the number sold in the corresponding month of last year.
Sales volumes were lowest in the middle of the year due to limited purchasing power from customers.
Toyota Viet Nam (TMV) topped the market with 3,615 units in sales, an increase of 45 per cent over the last year's period. TMV's August figures amounted to 33 per cent of VAMA's market shares.
VAMA expects automobile sales in 2014 to reach 130,000 units, an increase of 18 per cent over last year. — VNS
