The Communist Youth Union and Bia Saigon, the leading brand of Saigon Beer - Alcohol- Beverage Corporation (SABECO), on Tuesday officially announced their co-operation to implement the community initiative “Tet - One Home.”

This is part of Bia Saigon’s Tet Stronger Together Campaign, which aims to support struggling workers who are society’s core workforce, and most affected by the closure or suspension of many industrial zones, factories, and companies during the pandemic.

In addition to the workers, the initiative is also set to honour medical and volunteer forces, including youth union members and university students, who have sacrificed their private lives to support national efforts and initiatives to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As 2022 Lunar New Year approaches, everyone across the country is looking forward to returning to their hometown to celebrate the occasion with family, relatives and friends after a year of many upheavals.

“Tet - One Home” hopes to spread the spirit of national solidarity, which emphasises family togetherness and unity. The initiative will support selected communities by giving them the opportunity to return to their respective hometowns to enjoy Tet celebrations with their families and to welcome the year of 2022 with hope, joy and optimism. The initiative will run from January 24 to 28, 2022.

The programme will provide 270 plane tickets, 1,530 coach tickets and 200 train tickets to 2,000 workers, labours and university students in Ha Noi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, HCM City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai to return to their hometowns for the Lunar New Year.

In addition, the programme will also distribute Tet gifts to 800 struggling students, workers, labourers, as well as youth union members and frontline volunteers in Hoa Binh, Ha Noi, Quang Ninh and HCM City, who wish to remain in their respective localities to celebrate Lunar New Year.

During the press media event, Bennett Neo, SABECO general director, said: “The year 2021 has been a difficult and challenging year for Viet Nam, for businesses and for people from all walks of life."

"In this moment of hardship, the strength of willpower and the spirit of unity of the Vietnamese people is ignited. Bia Saigon takes pride in working together again with the Communist Youth Union to organise this community initiative to support those who are affected by the pandemic and to honour those frontliners and volunteers who have contributed in the effort to fight against COVID-19.

"We hope the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to return home to reunite with their families during Tet, the most auspicious moment for all of us to come together, to embrace the spirit of unity and be stronger together.”

Nguyen Ngoc Luong, secretary of the Executive Committee of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Viet Nam Youth Union, said: "The Communist Youth Union together with SABECO and Bia Saigon wishes that through this programme, we will approach people in difficult situations during the traditional Tet Holiday, with a spirit of 'No one left behind,' and the noble value of 'leaves protect tattered ones.'

"In addition, the programme also wants to spread gratitude for the silent dedication and sacrifice of the frontline team in the fight against the epidemic, and to the workers who are the core labour force of society during the Lunar New Year 2022."

For the past three years, Bia Saigon has organised various initiatives to support struggling workers to return home for Tet. In 2022, Bia Saigon has decided to co-operate with the Communist Youth Union to extend the initiative and make it more accessible to a wider group of communities.

In addition to this community initiative, Bia Saigon is also implementing a string of meaningful activities for Tet, to promote the Vietnamese unique identity and create positive changes that will bring pride to the country and Vietnamese people. — VNS
