Leading aerospace company Airbus is reinforcing its commitment to expanding its supply chain in Viet Nam as part of the company's ongoing effort to optimise operations and better serve its customers.

Hoang Tri Mai, Airbus Chief Representative of Viet Nam, delivered the message during the Viet Nam Aviation Forum in Ha Noi on Tuesday.

Mai said that Viet Nam has been identified as a country with great potential, thanks to its highly skilled and motivated workforce, vibrant manufacturing sector, and highly developed infrastructure. Airbus sees opportunities to tap into the growth potential of the country and drive economic development in the region.

"Viet Nam is a country that has made remarkable progress in recent years, and we are excited to be a part of its continued growth," said Mai. "Airbus is already in close discussions with local companies to provide new work packages in aircraft parts manufacturing, as we develop a robust supply chain that meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability."

Airbus’ existing partnerships in aircraft parts manufacturing include Artus (Meggitt) Vietnam in HCM City for the supply of electro-mechanical equipment for the A320 family and for the A330 and A350 widebody programmes, as well as with Nikkiso Vietnam in Ha Noi for the supply of composite structures for the A320 sharklet and A330neo and A350 aerostructure parts.

Airbus is a leading supplier of aircraft to airlines in Viet Nam, with more than 220 in the fleets of Viet Nam-based carriers and another 110 on order for future delivery.

The expansion of Airbus' supply chain in Viet Nam is expected to contribute to the economic development of the country. Today, the country’s air transport sector supports 2.2 million jobs and contributes US$12.5 billion gross value or 5.2 per cent to its GDP.

“We look forward to strengthening our partnerships with local stakeholders. This new commitment to expanding its supply chain demonstrates Airbus' confidence in the future of the sector,” Mai said. — VNS
