The Saigon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) and Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) have signed an agreement to promote the development of the co-operative model in Viet Nam rapidly and sustainably.
The Saigon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) and Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) have signed an agreement to promote the development of the co-operative model in Viet Nam rapidly and sustainably.
They will co-ordinate to do research and petition the Government, ministries and localities to changes laws and policies on co-operatives to suit the current development model.
They will set up new points of sale in provinces and cities to support the development of the local and collective economies, and conduct research to develop co-operative models for product purchase and distribution.
They will also work together to create standards for cooperatives’ product and organise activities to promote consumption of co-operatives’ products through Saigon Co.op’s retail system, and trade promotion activities.
They will join hands to conduct research into developing new models such as student, job and consumer co-operatives, carry out training activities to improve co-operatives’ management and develop the co-operative model in a sustainable manner.
The signing ceremony was held at an exhibition on the achievements of the collective economy and co-operatives and VCA’s activities in 2016-20 being held at the My Dinh National Convention Center in Ha Noi from December 20 to 22.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, who is also the head of the Steering Committee for Cooperative Economy Innovation and Development. — VNS
