Abbott on Thursday launched a new and enhanced reformulation of Glucerna for diabetes patients in Viet Nam.

The new product is designed to improve insulin sensitivity and achieve glycemic control in four weeks by minimising blood glucose spikes and reducing glycemic variability, with daily use.

“Finding the right nutritional plan for diabetes management is a critical part of ensuring quality of life, but it’s not easy,” says Douglas Kuo, general manager, Abbott in Viet Nam.

“Glucerna’s new formulation is a simple and effective solution to help those living with diabetes adjust their lifestyles and improve their quality of life,” he added.

Clinical studies showed Glucerna helps to improve glycemic control and support blood glucose control in the long term together with diet and exercise.

Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing global health challenges today with the number of people with diabetes expected to increase by 51 per cent globally from 2019 to 2045.

In Viet Nam, the prevalence of diabetes among adults (aged 20 – 79) is affecting 3.77 million adults in 2019 and there are about 2 million adults living with undiagnosed diabetes. Focusing on proven solutions – including the essential role of nutrition in diabetes management – can help decrease the burden of the disease.

For people living with diabetes, nutrition and glycemic control are two important factors to manage for optimum health, but that can be a challenge. Three out of four people living with diabetes have poor glycemic control due to a variety of factors that include dietary habits, genetic predisposition and an unhealthy lifestyle. — VNS
