HCM CITY (Biz Hub)— December has seen an additional 3,000 vehicles shipped into the country, bringing the total number of imported autos this year to 34,500 units worth $709 million.

According to the Sai Gon Times Daily, quoting sources from the General Statistics Office, imports of CBU units in 2013 showed a rise of 25.9 per cent in volume and 15.2 per cent in value.

The rising number of imported vehicles is seen as evidence of restored confidence by consumers.

However, the number of vehicles imported this year is still lower than in 2011, when as many as 54,600 autos were imported and valued at over $1 billion.— VNS
