Honda Việt Nam said that it is expected to reduce CO2 by 16 per cent compared to 2019 by the end of 2024 fiscal year from April this year to March next year.
Honda Việt Nam said that the carbon neutrality goal of this joint venture by 2030 is to reduce CO2 by 46 per cent compared to 2019 and to be carbon neutral by 2050.
In order to realise the goal, Motofumi Marutani, deputy general director of Honda Việt Nam, said that it is expected to reduce CO2 by 16 per cent compared to 2019 by the end of 2024 fiscal year from April this year to March next year.
In motorcycle production, Honda Việt Nam will develop technologies to improve internal combustion engines such as improving the combustion chamber and powertrain, friction reduction system; research, promote the use of biofuels and consider future electric motorcycle products for the Vietnamese market.
At the same time, it will introduce eco-friendly car models to Vietnamese customers. Notably, initially, Honda Việt Nam will launch a series of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), starting this year.
Regarding automobile production and assembly activities, according to the Government's orientation on developing the automobile industry in a more eco-friendly direction as well as the orientation of Honda Motor, Honda Việt Nam will research and develop new eco-friendly vehicles into Việt Nam.
Honda Việt Nam said that in order to reduce carbon emissions, the need to switch from fossil fuels to renewable or "green" energy was essential and a suitable roadmap was needed.
Currently, in the transition period, HEV is an effective solution to the environmental problem. Honda's HEV products can save about 30 per cent more fuel than vehicles using pure gasoline engines, thus can significantly reduce CO2 emissions into the environment. — VNS
