HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Work to repair and restore the Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable link is expected to be completed by 2pm on January 23, said the FPT Telecom Company.

AAG's repair ship will arrive at the location of the severed section of the cable at 1am on January 15. The welding work on the cable will begin at 7pm on January 17 and will end by 6 pm on January 19. The repair work is likely to be completed on January 21.

Earlier, the cable was found cut at 8.05am on January 5 off Vung Tau City. The break has hit international Internet connections from Viet Nam to other countries.

Internet service providers have transferred their operations to other transmission lines to ensure continued connectivity for customers. The repair was earlier expected to take three to four weeks. — VNS
