BANG KOK (VNS) – Centara Beach Resort and Spa Phu Quoc is the latest Vietnamese property to be acquired by Centara Hotels and Resorts.

The hotel group signed a management contract with Centara Beach Resort's owners, Binh Le Xuan Ltd Companies and Commercial Services.

The four-star resort is Centara's second property on the idyllic Phu Quoc Island, and is seen as a desirable complement to the other properties in Centara's Vietnamese portfolio.

Centara Beach Resort and Spa Phu Quoc is located on the main coast of Phu Quoc Island, in Viet Nam's Kien Giang Province, and is just a 10-minute drive from Phu Quoc International Airport, which receives flights from Ho Chi Minh Airport and Noi Bai Airport in Ha Noi.

The resort has 143 rooms in total, and will have the full range of facilities expected by guests at modern resorts, including technology-linked meeting facilities, an all-day restaurant, a swimming pool complete with a pool bar and a fitness centre, as well as full wireless connectivity throughout the property.

Vietnam's largest island, Phu Quoc Island is itself reason enough to visit this latest Centara venture. An exceptionally peaceful island getaway in the Gulf of Thailand, it is just 50km away from the Vietnamese mainland and a short 50-minute flight from HCM City.

While most of the island has been given over to a national park, it has a largely undeveloped interior area. So while Phu Quoc is becoming known for its clear waters and crystalline white sands, it still has an untouched air and is a natural destination for those seeking exceptional scuba-diving and snorkeling facilities, as well as for anyone who enjoys a laidback atmosphere with friendly and approachable local people.

Thirayuth Chirathivat, CEO of Centara Hotels and Resorts, said that he is "proud to be overseeing the ongoing expansion of the Centara brand, and that he expects great things of tourism in Viet Nam in the years to come."

Centara Beach Resort and Spa Phu Quoc is scheduled to be opened during the third quarter this year, and is expected to quickly become a valued addition to the island's growing tourist sector. – VNS
