Around 450 leading manufacturers and distributors of equipment, machinery and technologies serving the water supply, sanitation, and wastewater treatment industry from more than 25 countries and territories are currently showcasing their products at the Vietwater 2024 & WETV 2024 being held in HCM City from November 6 to 8.
The 15th Việt Nam International Water Supply, Sanitation, Water Resources and Purification Event (Vietwater 2024) and Việt Nam Exhibition on Waste Treatment and Environment Technology (WETV 2024) officially opened on Wednesday (November 6) at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in District 7.
There are 10 international pavilions for China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan (China), Türkiye and Việt Nam.
The events serve as an all–in–one place for brands to showcase cutting–edge technologies and solutions in water supply, wastewater treatment, sanitation and purification, along with waste management and environmental technologies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ben Wong, country general manager of Informa Markets Vietnam, the organiser, said water resource and environment protection are encountering challenges not only in Việt Nam, but all over the world.
Global warming, shortage of natural resources and increasing demands from an evolving population have become major focal points, he said.
“In Việt Nam, booming development, urbanisation and industrialisation have drawn attention to the development needs for the water and environment sectors,” he said.
Nguyễn Vân Nga, deputy chief of office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and head of the representative office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the South, said the events not only open up new development opportunities for the industry, but also create a foundation for innovation.
“Advanced technologies and breakthrough solutions will be the key to bring us closer to the goal of sustainable development,” she said.
This is a very important time to come together to find smart solutions that meet urgent needs and protect the environment for future generations, she said.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade highly appreciates and always supports activities to promote the development of the water supply and drainage industry, and wastewater filtration and treatment technology, towards the goal of environmental protection and sustainable development, she added.
The events will include a series of international conferences on water and solid waste treatment.
The conference programme covers practical topics such as “Strategising Collaborative Innovations for Transformative Smart Water Management and Governance”, “Effective Water Management for Sustainable Development”, “Water Reuse Meets Sustainable Development of Water Industry”, or “Technology of Collecting, Classifying, Transporting, and Treatment of Domestic Waste towards Green Development.”
This series brings practical solutions and contributes to the sustainable development of water as well as the environmental industry in Việt Nam.
With the theme “Connect Today – Infinite Success”, Vietwater 2024’s exclusive business matching event will facilitate direct 1:1 trade interaction between potential buyers with over 450 suppliers from around the world.
A new highlight of this year’s exhibition, the Water Hackathon competition, which is organised by Informa Markets Vietnam in collaboration with the Việt Nam–Netherlands Friendship Association in HCM City, Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB), and Institute of Environment and Circular Economy Southern (IECES), showcases and honours sustainable innovations in water and solid waste management.
The competition aims to provide an incubation environment that supports the growth of ideas and startup projects, offering financial resources, technical support, and networking opportunities to help startups successfully grow and contribute to the water sector.
It offers opportunities to learn, network with peers and meet key industry experts across the region as they share experiences and exchange knowledge.
At the co-located expo with Vietwater since 2018, WETV showcases many environment–related equipment technologies such as sorting machines, waste collection and transportation, waste treatment and management, recycling, environmental monitoring and measurement, technology to generate energy from waste materials, and many others.
The trade show is expected to welcome more than 10,000 visitors. — VNS
