HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The United States will conduct an anti-dumping investigation on steel pipes used in the oil and gas industry from Viet Nam.
The Viet Nam Competition Authority (VCA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said the US was also checking on steel pipe imports from Thailand, India, the Philippines, Taiwan and Portugal.
This is the fourth time the US has carried out an investigation on Viet Nam's steel products. The previous checks on cold-rolled stainless steel and carbon steel pipes and coat hangers. However, the check found that the carbon steel pipes did not contravene US regulations.
Early this month, a group of steel pipe makers in the United States asked the US International Trade Commission to investigate what they said was a flood of products from several countries, mainly in Asia.
Statistics from US steel pipe indicate that the export turnover of Vietnamese steel pipe used in the oil and gas industry reached US$184 million in 2012, accounting for 12 per cent of US market share.

The VCA said a preliminary reply would be given in mid August. — VNS
