Airline ticket fares for children from two to twelve years old was increased from 75 to 90 per cent of adult fares beginning April 1, according to the national carrier, Vietnam Airlines, in a message sent to its agents nationwide.
The increase is equivalent to between VND30,000 (US$1.3) and VND400,000 per ticket for one way travel, depending on age.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that after raising prices, children would enjoy the same adult services as seats, meals and checking luggage free of charge.
Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific, a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, also raised fees for children under two years old on domestic flights, from VND110,000-150,000 to VND209,000 per ticket. — VNS
