The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four local universities to offer a certificate course.

The agreements, signed on December 20-22, are between the ICAEW and the Hà Nội-based National Economics University (NEU), the University of Economic and Business under the Viet Nam National University, Thuong Mai University and the HCM City-based Ton Duc Thang University.

As per the MOU, the institutes will work together to offer the ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) to students, which will help them improve their knowledge and language skills and equip them to work in a competitive international environment after graduation. It will also improve the universities’ teaching quality and standardise their curricula.

Mark Billington, regional director of ICAEW South East Asia, said the MOU marks the ICAEW’s long-term commitment to the growth of the accounting, finance and auditing industry in Viet Nam. The CFAB certificate will go a long way in improving the competitive advantage of students, he added.

The ICAEW is a leading professional membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports chartered accountants worldwide. The institute has around 147,000 members and offers qualifications and scope for professional development. — VNS
