Vietnamese insurance director wins Asean Managers Award 2013

HA NOI (Biz Hub) —Chairman of Post & Telecommunication Insurance JSC (PTI) Pham Anh Tuan has received the Young Asean Managers Award 2013.

The award, sponsored by the Asean Insurance Council (AIC) and jointly supported by the Asean Insurance Training and Research Institute, honours outstanding young managers for their achievements, contributions and dedication in the insurance industry in this region.

This award, introduced in 2005, seeks to encourage more young managers in the industry to actively contribute and excel in their field of work, leading to the development of a skilled pool of human capital within the Asean insurance industry.

Tuan is the first Vietnamese manager to have received the award.

Tuan is an active leader in the country's insurance industry. He has joined PTI in 2007 and directed the company to become one of the leading insurance businesses in the market. By November 2013, PTI's revenue reached VND1.3 trillion, a growth rate of 6 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Also, PTI is on the list of Viet Nam's 500 largest enterprises by revenue in 2013, compiled by the Viet Nam Report Joint Stock Company. It's rank increased by 63 grades compared with 2012.

Two runner-up awards have been delivered to Nagarajan Ashokkumar, Asst Vice President of MSIG Insurance Pte. Ltd and Tan Kian Beng, Manager Multi-Purpose Insuranse Bhd.

Also, fifteen outstanding young managers from Asean countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, have been selected from the qualifier round to take part in the interview round.

The award requires the winners to be competent and show outstanding leadership within the company and the industry, and to be innovative and creative in managing people. Also winners must have made a positive contribution to promote the image of the insurance industry. — VNS
