The Vietnam HR Awards have returned with a special edition to honour highly responsive human capital initiatives.
The fourth edition will have 12 awards though in only one category, Responsive Human Capital Initiative, for enterprises with 50-200 employees and those with over 200.
Six of the prizes will go to enterprises with outstanding human capital responses that are able to meet the needs of current times, and the other six to top HR leaders who have initiatives in place and help businesses thrive.
Like most economies in the world, Viet Nam’s economy has been influenced substantially by the COVID-19 pandemic this year.
Nguyen Trung Chinh, acting editor-in-chief of Lao dong va Xa hoi (Labour and Social Affairs) newspaper, and chairman of the organising committee, said: “In order to stand strong and go beyond the crisis, enterprises need to firstly stabilise their internal resources, devise a responsive human resource management strategy and adapt flexibly to the situation and in accordance with the long-term business goals and orientations.
“Many companies have leveraged the situation to empower and upgrade training and development activities for employees, and others choose to invest in their EVP (employment value proposition) as a human-centric organisation with an exciting dynamics and culture.
“It goes without saying that people are at the heart of every organisation and therefore play a critical part in growing alongside businesses during post-COVID time.
“Therefore, enterprises need to have the proper and up-to-date human resource management strategies to empower the workforce and be ready for future come-back and growth.”
Tieu Yen Trinh, CEO of Talentnet, and standing vice chairwoman of the organising committee, said: “With the current global financial recession due to COVID-19, besides the financial benefits, the top priority of multinational companies and local enterprises in Viet Nam is developing an effective human resource strategy, which balances between the business goals and workforce’s benefits.
“By understanding the common mentality of enterprises and capturing the heat of the moment, this year Vietnam HR Awards 2020 has introduced a special edition with a special mission to honour off-the-records achievements and strength to overcome hardships.”

The awards ceremony will be held in November or December.
The jury will include Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, founder and chairman of GIBC, Dam Bich Thuy, president of Fulbright University Vietnam, Nguyen Huu Thiet, former human resource director of FrieslandCampina Vietnam and Myanmar, Pham Thanh Van, global director, People & Culture at the World Mosquito Programme, Colin Blackwell, chairman of the HR Committee of the Vietnam Business Forum, and Trinh. — VNS
