HA NOI (Biz Hub) — National carrier Vietnam Airlines will start a direct route between Ha Noi and Sydney in April 2017, it announced at the Australian capital on Thursday.
The announcement was made at an event held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of direct flights from HCM City to Sydney at Sydney International Airport.
The HCM City-Sydney flight has become the bridge linking the two countries as well as other Oceanian countries, the airline's representative in Sydney said. It started with three flights per week and increased to five flights. Later, a route was started to Melbourne. Since 2011, the airline has been operating daily flights from HCM City to both cities, which is a great help for businesses, cultural exchanges and tourism.
The airline considers Australia as one of the key markets, with an average transport volume of more than 300,000 passengers a year. At least 84 per cent of the seats have always been booked since early this year.
