HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam has won a contract to export 187,000 tonnes of 25-per cent broken rice to the Philippines.
The rice will be shipped between April and June this year, according to the Viet Nam Food Association.
With a price of US$459.75 per tonne, higher than the market average of $365, VFA hopes that the contract will help increase the domestic price of rice in the coming time despite the current saturated market.
In the second quarter of this year, 2.2 million tonnes of rice is expected to be exported, including an estimated 800,000 tonnes in April alone.
Viet Nam has won a large number of rice export contracts recently, which will amplify exports in the next two months, said the association. — VNS
