HCM CITY (Biz Hub)— Viet Nam enjoyed a trade surplus of US$85 million in the first half of this month, which took the deficit from January 1 to July 15 down to $755 million.

According to figures from the customs, trade in the first half of July was $10.2 billion, and the total for seven months, $134.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7 per cent.

Foreign companies reported a surplus of $110 million in July and $2.2 billion for the seven-month period. Telephones and components have been the largest earners this year at $10.7 billion, up 92 per cent year-on-year, followed by garments, computers, and electronics and components.

Imports of machinery, equipment and parts were worth $9.2 billion, an increase of 8.1 per cent, followed by computers, electronics and components, and textiles. — VNS
